ASTD 2009 is the premier event for workplace learning and performance professionals to connect with colleagues and attendees from more than 70 countries. Here's a sample of the networking opportunities available.
At Tuesday evening’s Conference Celebration, party among moon rocks and starships at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall. The Smithsonian Institution’s museum of aviation and space history, the world’s most visited museum, will open Tuesday evening only for ASTD. ASTD guests will dine under a Ford Tri-Motor, enjoy an ice cold drink while marveling at a moon rock dating back to the Ice Age, and dance to a live band next to the Apollo Lunar Module. Galleries will display aircraft and spacecraft from across the years -- from the Wright Brothers Flyer to the Spirit of St. Louis to the Apollo 11 Command Module. |

For those who want to take flight with the pioneers of the aviation industry, an entire room full of simulators will let participants shoot into space on a rocket, fly a jet fighter, and even take off from an air craft carrier.
For a different way to experience flight, the Lockheed Martin Imax theater will be open for private screenings of To Fly! for ASTD guests throughout the evening.
Buffet stations will feature gourmet items suitable for dinner with dessert and coffee served later in the evening. Complimentary beer, wine, soft drinks, and juices will be available throughout the evening.
Complimentary shuttle buses will run between all conference hotels and the museum.
Tickets may be ordered in advance on your registration form for $50. Tickets ordered at the convention center will be $100.
While you're at the conference, be sure to set aside time to take in the beauty of our nation's captial area. These optional tours are an excellent opportunity for first-timers, conference veterans and guests to network and meet other conference attendees. Tours will be offered Saturday through Tuesday.
